Team EVP Smashing Records With Factory ECUs!

Records Smashed!

Another great week for EVP race teams! Race team family Mike and Stephanie Reid, along with the Fisher’s (Charles, Roberta, Brody and family), made the trek to the Northeast Louisiana Sand Drags with the intent to smash records.

Stock Turbo Class

The Fisher family has worked hard on their race program to shed weight and optimize the clutching package. EVP Co-Owner Jim Zuccone spent a considerable amount of time refining the tune and launch strategy to get everything possible out of the package. EVP race manager, Dan Picht, worked hand-in-hand with them getting the TAPP Primary Clutch and suspension setup dialed so the 2022 Can-Am X3 RR would take off just right with the engine tuning.

Roberta has been refining her driving skills to handle the additional acceleration the car had with all the changes. All this hard work paid off with Roberta setting the record for the (S/UTV) Stock UTV Class for both ET and MPH – 4.179 and 74.56, respectively. What makes this record even more impressive is the fact that it is tuned on the factory MG1 ECU. All other companies rely on standalone ECUs to tune their record attempting cars. EVP is the only company that has the capability to give you world record setting performance on the factory ECU.

43mm Class

Mike and Steph Reid have been with the EVP Racing family for many years and have really honed their racing skills into a top-notch team – a “dynamic duo,” so to speak. Mike has dominated the 43mm Class for the last three years, and before this weekend he held the 43mm ET Record of 3.750 seconds in 300’. Not content to leave the record where it was at, Mike and Steph worked hand-in-hand with the EVP Race Department to refine the clutching, suspension and tuning.

Not only that, Mike has the first production TAPP Secondary clutch. This clutch is an absolute game changer and allows us to control the belt in a way that has never been possible before. Not only that, the clutch has required ZERO maintenance throughout the entire testing, tuning and record-setting process.

Mike was also running a Gen3 Paragon P43R Turbocharger with EVP long-tube header and EVP Stage 2 engine package. With that said, Mike and his “Bat Mobile” X3 accomplished what he set out to do, which was to smash his previous record by shaving nearly a tenth of a second off and running a 3.663 at 300’. (Mike did not claim the MPH record—that record is held by another EVP racer, Hunter Law.) Once again, Mike Reid is running the factory ME17 ECU custom tuned by EVP Co-Owner Jim Zuccone – no standalones are necessary to set records and win races.
