Sand Outlaw Series Race #4 Recap - St Anthony

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK…. TO BACK VICTORIES FOR #TEAM EVP!

Mod Class: Following our back-to-back-to-back victories in the previous Sand Outlaws Races, the Evolution Powersports “Desert Storm” Mod Turbo Class Can Am X3 remains undefeated for the entire season. This has caused ongoing controversy and accusations of cheating. Because of this, the organizers installed a boost monitoring device on our car at the Winchester Bay event to make sure we were not using launch control – and of course we were not. Simply put; we love to win. Winning takes a lot of hard work and know-how. We don’t take the easy route when it comes to testing or racing. Our testing regime for these races consists of many long days at our own sand track and showing up at the races early to meticulously setup the car for the conditions at each location. Fortunately, Dan Picht, our great team and the Zuccone brothers have been at this for a long time and have the commitment to do what it takes to win and keep us on top!

Outlaw Class:

The all-new from the ground up EVP HUSTLER car made its 2nd race of the season.  Extensive testing at Devils Dune prior to the race confirmed the car could compete at the top of the Outlaw Class level. This was proven when we drew the Packard YXZ on the first round. We beat their car in a good race where both cars left simultaneously. Unfortunately, something in the driveline gave way during the second race vs Phoenix Industries Z1 powered RZR and we were out for the rest of the rounds. We now know the Hustler is on par with the fastest cars in the country and will be ready for race #5 at Sand Mountain Utah on Oct 3rd.

Stock Turbo Class:

In the stock turbo class, we raced both a Pro XP with the new EVP Big Injector tunes and our 2020 X3RR with the 3 tune multi map X100 tune. The organizers allowed a last-minute switch to E85 – E85 had not been allowed previously. Complicating matters, the X3 was involved in an accident and needed to be rebuilt extensively prior to the race. Since we were out of time and could not test further, the decision was made to stay with gasoline tunes which put us at a disadvantage in the hot, high elevation conditions. The Pro XP finished 4th overall and the 2020RR was knocked out early.
