The Evolution Powersports Can-Am Maverick X3, driven by Billy Long with co-drivers Richard Proveauex & Jacob Zuccone, lands a podium finish in the first race of the 2020 BITD season. Our last-minute decision to blow the dust off the 2907 and go racing the week before the season opener was a good one! With a solid 9th place overall finish and Rookie of the Year Award in the 2019 season running number 907 and competing in the UTV Pro class, we decided to step into the UTV unlimited class and develop this car into a true unlimited car.  We will continue to evolve this car throughout the season and push the envelope of this amazing platform.

“This was a great race”, says Todd Zuccone, Team 2907 race coordinator and co-owner of Evolution Powersports. “It was great to see my son Jacob Zuccone get a taste of desert racing and navigate for Billy”.

They had a minor issue with the clutch cooling duct which became loose and allowed rocks and debris to get into the clutch housing that ultimately chewed up the belt. They had to repair the duct and change the belt on the race course which ate up a bunch of time. This prevented them from catching the leaders and put them in third place at the end only 13 seconds behind second place.

We will be better prepared for the Laughlin night race next month where we will be in the hunt for the top spot. Thank you for all the help and support from our great sponsors:  Evolution Powersports, Lonestar Racing & MRT Tires.
