Wasilla, AK - The EVP sponsored 2020 Can Am X3 Turbo RR and 2018 Can Am X3 Turbo R, driven by Billy Long and Haley Young, came out swinging to the first round of the AMMC UTV Ice Races. Both vehicles are equipped with the EVP Stage 4 Big Injector tunes, exhaust and EVP clutching. The race took place at Wasilla Lake in Alaska, with below 5° temperatures and 40 MPH winds. This 2.6-mile ice loop would see speeds up to 95 MPH!
Billy Long raced in the Open Class along with another one of his EVP-tuned Can Ams driven by Eric Phillips. Billy started out strong, winning the hole shot off the line every time. He had a few steering issues in heat 1 and took second place to Phillips. Billy gained a huge lead in the next two heats. He maintained the lead and brought home the win in heat 2 and heat 3.
Haley Young went out for her first race in the Women’s Class and brought home an impressive win as well. Haley also faced steering issues that caused her to roll in a corner in heat 1. She quickly got the car flipped over and took off like nothing had happened! Haley got the hole shot in her class, gaining a lead of 20 seconds over the rest of the field. She won all 3 heats in her first race ever!
