SXSBlog Races are always a good time, and the Spring 2023 installment was no different! The EVP gang made its maiden voyage to Silverback Raceway in Mears, Michigan to race and riot with the SXSBlog Boys, fellow racers, and customers. The conditions were less than ideal for racing or record-setting due to the high-density altitude’s heat and humidity, but nonetheless we were there to race.
The EVP Desert Storm Mod Class car was back at it with fresh chassis modifications along with a new engine/turbo package and new clutching calibrations. It was apparent that the hard work paid off when EVP’s Dan Picht essentially unloaded the car off the trailer and broke the current ET record for UTV/C pro UTV/C held by James Servy by .01 seconds.
The car continued to get faster all weekend despite the conditions, and ended up shaving another .058 off the current record with a time of 3.562 @ 88.28 mph. The best thing about this record is that it was set during a legitimate race.
Outlaw Race:
The SXS Blog Outlaw race is always guaranteed to bring the heat with the 16 fastest cars of the weekend that were chosen by the SXSBlog crew. The Desert Storm car ran the race undefeated and ran consistent 3.5’s and low 3.6’s every pass. Dan and the boys took the overall win and a $1,250 paycheck.
Other honorable mentions are Chris Mozal running his Paragon P43R turbo system putting down good times and Jeremy Amy running a DS420X with a Gen 2 XR42 turbo system putting down a 3.90 ET. Both Jeremy and Chris cars are tuned on the factory ECU by Jim Zuccone with clutch and chassis setups by Howard Haack.
Michael Reid’s P43R Batman car had clutching issues that could not be resolved for the race. Look for Michael to be back at the next race. Special thanks to Stephanie Reid for her amazing photography!
