Pataskala, OH (5/13/2018) – Can-Am/XPS Lubricants/CT Raceworx/Evolution Powersports driver Kyle Chaney brought out a Can-Am Maverick that was so new it had no graphics, and swept both Pro Modified events during the SXS Spring Nationals. The special two-day event was held at US Air Motorsports Raceway in Shawano, WI. The event was the brainchild of Johnny and CJ Greaves, as well as Rodney VanEperen. It was staged on the asphalt racing surface of a drift car/karting circuit that led into a short-course dirt track. Chaney was driving a new Can-Am Maverick X3 just built for his GNCC program. Utilizing an Evolution Powersports tune, he was over three seconds faster than the rest of the field in qualifying. In Saturday’s race he led every lap from the pole. On Sunday, Chaney started fourth due to the invert, took second on lap two and the lead one lap later. He wasn’t challenged from there. “I didn’t feel super confident on the pavement at first,” said Chaney. “I think it’s just about staying smooth and in control. The pavement definitely throws an obstacle into the racing we’re not used to. It’s another thing to learn from and makes us better drivers.” Chaney’s competitive Can-Am was unbeatable all weekend. After lowering the ride height at the beginning of the weekend, his team made no changes to the car. “My car did awesome this weekend,” said Chaney. “We just put fuel in the car and went out ran it. These Evolution Powersports-tuned cars are just so fast. I have to give it up to them. The car did amazing. Hopefully we can take it out to GNCC in two weeks and get another win.” Chaney was running the Maxxis Ceros tires. They are his go-to tire in GNCC, and they worked perfectly here, even on the pavement. “The Maxxis Ceros are always good on the dirt, and they hooked up great on the asphalt,” said Chaney. “The car went everywhere I wanted to.” Chaney will return to GNCC competition when the series holds its next UTV race, May 26-27 at the John Penton at Sunday Creek Raceway in Millfield, OH.
