TAPP Secondary Clutch for Kawasaki Teryx H2
EVP DISCLAIMER: The EVP TAPP Secondary Clutch is currently only available for dune customers who do not use a clutch cover. The TAPP Secondary has the helix and spring on the outward facing side of the clutch, whereas the OEM secondary has these components facing the transmission. An EVP Clutch Cover Spacer Kit will be available soon for H2 TAPP secondary clutches, which allows the OEM clutch cover to fit.
Kawasaki gave the SXS community a great vehicle with a mediocre secondary clutch with many inherent problems that translate into poor performance and very high belt temperatures. The EVP TAPP secondary solves all the issues present in the OEM clutch!
The OEM secondary clutch uses an extremely steep helix with a massive spring to control belt tension. The EVP TAPP secondary uses the proper dual angle helix along with an adjustable torsional/compression style spring. The helix ramps are easily replaced to fine tune the clutch shift characteristics if needed, whereas the OEM clutch has no provision for changing the helix angle.
The OEM secondary has no cooling fins whatsoever and has an enclosed steel helix/shaft that builds heat and transfers it to the belt. TAPP has cooling fins machined into the sheaves along with an open helix/spring combination made from aluminum, which efficiently dissipates heat and keeps the belt cooler.
Lastly, the OEM secondary contains grease inside of the spring/helix assembly. This leaks out and is flung onto the belt/primary clutch and clutch cover when hot. Grease and CVT systems are not compatible.
The EVP TAPP secondary clutch, alone with no other changes, demonstrated a vast improvement in shift characteristics, belt temperature, and life over stock. EVP TAPP secondary, EVP primary clutch weight kit, and the EVP Worlds Best Belt are the ultimate in shift characteristics, getting power to the ground and extending belt life.
