High intake-air temperatures kill consistent power on any tuned turbocharged engine. As intake temperatures rise, the ECU must use protective strategies including ignition timing reduction, fuel enrichment, and in some conditions, reduced boost to protect the engine. The result is simple: intake temperatures climb, power drops.

The CFMOTO Z10’s factory intercooler lacks its own dedicated cooling fan. Because of this, airflow across the intercooler can be limited at lower vehicle speeds, allowing it to heat soak quickly especially during aggressive riding, repeated hard acceleration and sustained high-load conditions.

The EVP Dual Intercooler Fan Kit attacks this problem directly and is designed specifically for the factory Z10 intercooler. The kit combines a shroud with dual 5.2” fans to dramatically increase airflow through the intercooler, improving heat transfer and helping control intake-air temperatures. When combined with EVP tuning, the cooling strategy becomes even more effective. EVP tuning commands the factory right side radiator fan, located directly behind the intercooler, to run at 50% duty cycle once the engine reaches operating temperature. Combined with the two dedicated intercooler fans, this maximizes airflow through the factory intercooler and cooling system.

EVP's Research and Development Team saw intake-air temperature reductions of more than 22°F, depending on ambient and operating conditions. Just as importantly, intake temperatures rise significantly more slowly during sustained hard use. Lower, more stable intake temperatures mean the ECU is less likely to intervene with temperature-related power-reduction strategies, helping the engine maintain full power longer and deliver more consistent performance run after run.
