EVP Racer Kyle Chaney Doubles up at ERX, Win Streak Now at Four

July 15, 2019 - Can-Am/XPS Lubricants/Chaney Racing/EVP driver Kyle Chaney won both of the UTV Pro Modified races during the Lucas Oil Midwest Short Course League race this past weekend at ERX Motor Park in Elk River, MN. Chaney remains unbeaten in the series with four straight victories. Driving his Can-Am Maverick X3 built by CT Race Worx, and tuned by Evolution Powersports Chaney swept the doubleheader weekend, leading a pack of fellow Can-Am drivers. Can-Am X3s represented four of the top five in each race. “We came into the event with high expectations and we capitalized winning both races and made it four-straight,” said Chaney. “My goal is to be on the podium every race and win the championship. We missed the title last year because of a couple of bad rounds so we’re hungry this season.”  Any time a single marque dominates a series, rumors start spreading around the paddock of whether rules are being followed. Chaney was pleased to put those rumors to rest this weekend after his car, along with several other Can-Ams were fully tech inspected following the race. They all passed. “I’m glad that Lucas teched us after the race and went through the top-three cars,” explained Chaney. “This should quiet the naysayers and let everyone know that we are not cheating. Things should go smoother now. When you can pass tech with stock stuff you know you’re going in the right direction.” UTV racing is growing as a discipline and that was demonstrated on the timing charts during the weekend. Chaney was laying down lap times equivalent to those scored by the Pro2 trucks, showing how far the class has come in just a few years. “Our cars have come a long way in the last couple of years,” said Chaney. “Every year these cars just get faster and faster and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.” Can-Am has dominated the Midwest Short Course League so far this season. Its race bred Maverick X3 is showing the factory takes racing seriously and they are doing the work behind the scenes to make the best car out there. Chaney’s ride is also outfitted with Maxxis tires and FOX suspension making it the most competitive car on the grid. “You can’t start with a better platform than the Can-Am Maverick X3,” said Chaney. “Can-Am is dominating this series, and every other series in which its involved. It proves the machines are top quality and race proven. My FOX suspension is valved by G-Force Racing and it worked awesomely. My car works so well now that I can nitpick stuff. We’re doing some grooving on the Maxxis tires, which are already great. Every second counts here and we’re putting in the time to make it happen.” Chaney will defend his points lead when the Midwest Short Course League heads to Bark River International Raceway in Michigan on August 10-11th.
